February 22, 2021 - In fall 2020, the Association of Registrars of the Universities and Colleges of Canada (ARUCC) launched the ARUCC MyCreds™ | MesCertif™ National Network, a national, bilingual credential wallet and document exchange platform. To date, five schools have launched approximately 25,000 credential wallets to learners providing them with them the capacity to share their official documents and credentials on a 24/7 basis – anytime, anywhere. These include Seneca College, York University, Bow Valley College, Ryerson University, the University of Lethbridge. Visit the MyCreds™ | MesCertif™ Media Release website for updates because the number of colleges and universities launching grows monthly.
An innovative, system level student service initiative, MyCreds™ | MesCertif™ is foundationally changing the way student service is delivered across Canada at a scale not typically seen. By enabling machine readable transcripts and other supporting documents, the environment will be critical to enable future advancements needed to achieve seamless transfer and rapid transition into the workforce. MyCreds™ | MesCertif™ supports inbound admission and assessment practices by providing inbound academic documents and transcripts, often in XML format, directly to institutions through their personalized Operations Portal. Similarly, colleges and universities can share official badges, micro-credentials, transcripts, documents, letters, diplomas, and degree parchments in a digitized format directly to learner’s credential wallets. Through MyCreds™ | MesCertif™, learners can then share their official documents and credentials around the world with employers, government, and other institutions without the ability to make modifications.
Owned by ARUCC, a federally incorporated not-for-profit led by Canadian colleges and universities, MyCreds™ | MesCertif™ is a shared service model. It was built by Canadian and international higher education experts and is part of a broader global network of credential depositories and institutions including more than 100 institutions. Currently, more than 1.5M learners are provisioned with credential wallets through this global network. Sending official documents through MyCreds™ | MesCertif™ ensures trusted, secure document and data exchange; personalized credential wallets; and significant efficiency opportunities for colleges and universities, learners, employers, governments, and more.
Through the project’s Integrated Working Group (IWG), ARUCC is collaborating with enterprise student information system providers and associations such as Ellucian and the Canadian Postsecondary Electronic Standards Council User Group (CanPESC) to ensure smooth alignment, particularly for transcripts, using widely support data exchange standards such as Open Source badging and XML to ensure future interoperability. https://youtu.be/HFLyECIced4
